Universita degli Studi di Parma (Italy) has been using CAS since November 2003 for
several applications with an OpenLDAP backend:

1. a uPortal instance
2. a phpBB site for forums
3. a dokeos (modified by us; patch available upon
   request) as LMS.

All of these applications are in a test phase; but at least 15% of our students used at least once CAS authentication.

In the future we plan to use CAS for more applications:

1. an internally developed application for downloading licensed software
2. an internally developed application for students enrolling to exams etc.

We are extensively using proxy functionality so to proxy searches in LDAP with a web page; so web applications can receive LDAP data about the logged user without knowing LDAP passwords (we deny any anonymous connection on LDAP).

Universita di Parma has about 28,000 students and 3,000 staff people.
