This doesn't quite make logical sense to me... 'ant clean' seems to relate to cleaning out the build directories of the working copy of uPortal and should not affect the deployed copy. I think of it as:
The opposite of 'ant compile' should be 'ant clean' and the opposite of 'ant deploy-war' should be something like 'ant undeploy-war' (which we don't have). At least maybe this can be a configurable option in the pom.xml/build.properties file?
