JA-SIG Miami
Sunday, December 7 through Tuesday,
December 9, 2003 at the Sheraton Bal Harbour in Miami,
Florida.
The JA-SIG is pleased to welcome our colleagues to
Florida's beautiful Gold Coast at the Sheraton Bal Harbour.
The Miami conference tracks will include:

Java development -
introductory, intermediate, and advanced technical sessions for
Java developers

Java archictecture -
technical topics and tools for connector architecture, system
administration, information retrieval, and web clients for
enterprise and legacy systems.

Java solutions -
interesting open source and Java initiatives in higher
education
Pre-conference seminars on December 7 will
include:

Java for Newbies - learn
the basics of Java classes, inheritance, object-orientation and
reusable code.

Introduction to XSLT -
design aspects related to converting structured information in XML
into device-dependent markup languages

uPortal implementation and
configuration - basics behind configuring, administering
and getting uPortal up and running

Build enterprise Java
applications - discussion of frameworks that can be used
to help you build enterprise Java applications
The Java Architectures Special Interest Group
(JA-SIG) is an independent organization promoting the use of Java
technologies and architectures within the higher education
community. JA-SIG supports the development and adoption of low
cost, flexible, open source solutions that adhere to best practices
and open standards.
The JA-SIG conference goals are
to:
- Nurture communication of best practices, new technologies, and
innovative methodologies and projects related to Java
- Promote the cooperative development of open source, Java
application solutions and provide a clearinghouse of information
and code
- Influence the adoption of open standards in collaboration with
industry groups, higher education professional organizations,
software vendors and standards bodies
- Create an atmosphere of trust, goodwill and collaboration
within the higher education Java development community and with
firms and schools on both a functional and geographic basis
